The Round-Up

Whew! I have been neglecting this little slice'o heaven on the internets. My apologies to all my adoring fans. So, here's a brief summary of what's been interesting me or really getting my goat recently. Sorry if this reads like one of those stupid Larry King lists.

  • Another one bites the dust News Flash: Lindsay's a dumb shit! Well, fuck 'em all I say. Just being exposed for the scum that we all know there are. I don't have the exact link, but you can see the now infamous pictures of her royal lowness passed out in a car and (presumably) puking on the sidewalk over at X17. There's an especially amusing one with a tall black guy walking past her, looking down and making a face that speaks a thousand words. Be sure to check that one out. UPDATE: The pix I mentioned are here, and the specific one I liked is the fourth from the bottom. Enjoy! --Ed.

  • Bush says chinese need to be eating US Beef. Damn straight! And while they're at it, they should stop speaking that ching-chong gobbledy-gook and just learn to speak like a `merican. Every time I think he's hit rock bottm, he surprises me.

  • Caution: your civil liberties are under attack. What's that you say? You already knew that? Good! In the midst of all this immigration reform non-sense (really just cloak and dagger for outright xenophobia) comes the revelation that in order to make the current proposal work, every employed adult in the United States of America (yes, the USofA -- remember that, it will be important later in this sentence) -- immigrant or not! -- will be forced to undergo a screening process to ensure that they are, in fact, legal. WTF? OMG? ROFLCOPTER!!! Can someone explain to me why I need to prove that I am a citizen when I have done nothing to arouse suspicion? No word yet on whether or not the "screening process" will involve painful anal probing or some other weird semi-sexual allusion that I can't think of just now.

  • Democrats cave on war funding. No surprise here (well, to me anyways; I swore off my democratic affiliation some time ago.)

  • An aside: yesterday, I discovered that 13/9 is the perfect time signature to shake your yogurt to. What's that? I'm the only one who shakes my yogurt? Oh yeah? Well fuck you guys!

  • Lastly, an intriguing segment for Bill Moyers new program. An interview with Bruce Bawer, author of a new book about how the integration of mainstream Islam into western society is threatening to eat away at the foundations upon which we pride ourselves. I'd appreciate feedback from all of you on this one, as this is a topic that I struggle with to this day.

OK, that's it kiddies! Read and weep (or cry, or whatever you usually do when you read this drivel). Hope to have more content for you in the future.

Dear Blogfather,

#1 I don't understand your comment about shaking your yogurt at a certain time and of course yes you are the only one who shakes it... you are special that way.

#2 the president is an idiot

#3 I think we should all read the book, see some evidence, maybe read a ny times article on it and then we can judge or make up our minds... at least thats what my plan is... at this point, it is clear that certain western/american/european laws, ideas, ways of living, etc... are actually progressive and therefore superior, for they offer a life to all people without pain and suffering. They bring happiness and tranquility to our lives, THEREFORE! they are better.

we also cannot say that covering up a womans head OR! hearing a woman say "I cover my own head because I have dignity" is not below us because IT IS. we can categorize this behavior in a simple way--- people justify their actions so that they will never have to face themselves, others, and the truth. they do not want to face the pain that comes with realizing that covering your head or your body with a burka is opperessive and they are being oppressed. it is hard to face such BIG things as cultural/religious norms by going against them.

anywho, I agree with Bill Mahr on this one: our way of living is not just different, but it is better. thats why they want to come and live free here, we don't want to go there and cover up our heads.

However unlike those who think themselves better and treat others poorly, I don't ever want to hurt anyone in any way. nor do I want to tell someone that their way of living is wrong for THEM. it is not my cup of tea, but what is my cup of tea is when they want me to comply with their laws in my country.
