Sunday Morning Round-Up

Just some interesting pieces to share as a result of my sunday morning surfing over a large cup of Blue Thunder (relax, it's coffee you morons).

  • Frank Rich has a thought-provoking piece, as usual, in the NYT today. Unfortunately it's in the paid section. Fortunately, Dr. Duke has a paid account and has posted said piece on his website. Thanks doc!

  • Iran is cracking down on 'Anti-Islamic' behavior, including male and female dress code, sales of alcohol and satellite dishes...the list goes on. The NYT piece is a bit slight on details, so you need to go look for some Iranian blogs instead. I've found this one to be pretty useful, at least as a starting point.

  • Russia's newest tourist attraction is a hollowed-out nuclear command bunker. For $40USD, you can take an english language tour, complete with your own mock security clearance card featuring a scary-looking picture of someone in a vintage gas mask. Sign me up!

  • The Smoking Gun's front page story today is a round-up of mug shots with lots of waterworks. Ah, gotta love TSG!

OK, it's after 12 now and I have a mountain of dirty dishes to do (fuckin' no dishwasher...never again!) That's all for me this am -- now why don't you lazy, free-loading, good-for-nothing readers stop mooching off of my surfing and post some links yourselves! We here at the office would sure appreciate more user-generated content. TTFN!

You can tell the same lie a thousand times/
But it never gets any more true/
So close your eyes once more and once more believe/
That they all still believe in you
